Haley Rain : Esthetician

 

      A person who is knowledgeable about the nature and appreciation of beauty, especially in art.
BINGO! That’s me, an esthetician. My “art” is skin. My passion is skin. Now, before I get into the the fascinating, scientific "hows" and "whys", let me tell you how I discovered this passion of mine. 
Growing up as a (small town) Florida girl, I was more obsessed with the sun than I was my skin. Sunscreen was considered a bad word. Not only was I anti-sunscreen, I took to the extreme of applying baby oil and baking on my parents’ tin roof. Cringeworthy, I know. Spoiler alert: this story has a good ending Fast forward to adulthood and I find myself in San Francisco, CA. If you’re at all familiar with San Francisco, you will know that it was impossible to hold on to my title of "Sun Goddess". The Florida tan faded and I was left with the raw reality of sun damage. Sun damage at 22?! Talk about a literal slap in the face.  I took a long, honest look in the mirror and realized: my skin is my shell, my rind, my frame - it‘s the first impression anyone will ever have of me. How on earth have I been treating it so poorly for 22 YEARS?! That’s when I landed myself at the Cinta Aveda Institute and obtained my license in esthetics. Well, not overnight, of course. But, from that moment - I saw skin from a different perspective. I truly fell in love with it: the longevity, the endurance, the tones, the lines, the way it communicates. Skin truly does communicate. So I started to listen. I found myself wanting to know more, know why, and know how. So, that’s what I did. That’s what I’m doing, and what I’ll always do.
Now we’re back in present time. Five years later. I’m back in my quaint home town - Crystal River, Florida (only this time with a new appreciation for SPF, sun-hats, and skin therapy, OH! - and incredibly healthy skin). I came back to my roots to pursue my dream in the place I love most, with the people I love most. Here is where I plan to share my knowledge about the nature and appreciation of beauty, especially in skin.
